A long time ago I worked in an automotive paint laboratory in Cleveland developing green metallic paints for Honda Civics & Odysseys. I discovered that what I was doing just didn't suit me, so I decided I needed to make a change and take my Miami University Zoology degree to Columbus.
I started taking classes in design at Columbus State Community College (CSCC), and I found I really enjoyed them. Working in a laboratory, so many aspects of my former job involved true/false, pass/fail, step 1, 2, 3, etc. rule of thumb, and I understand why. But when I started to learn about design, I learned that there is more than one way to approach a problem and more than one way to reach a result.
I graduated from CSCC and immediately started to work for RMD Advertising as a designer, then I became the senior designer. After 3 years, I moved on and became a program coordinator for Asian American Community Services as well as a freelance designer for The Limited Brands (now known as L Brands).
I found myself less than year later interviewing for a position as a graphic specialist for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA). I never imagined that an airport authority needed designers, but here I was, applying for a brand new position with the airport authority. Company-wide everyone realized they finally have a designer in-house that could advise and assist in their design needs. Thru almost 7 years at CRAA, I've had a hand in developing many projects from newsletters, email communications, brochures, branding, uniforms, presentations, large format signage, wayfinding signage, video, outdoor billboards, website content & maintenance, environmental graphics and finally social media.
